What sort of drill bit should I use to drill into a banquet table with a polyethylene Resin top?
I would like to install a riser (http://www.bhph… or mounting bracket into my banquet table with a polyethylene Resin surface. Is this a plausible idea, and what sort of drill bit should I use?

one 1/2 the size of the screw any standard drill bit will work
A sharp, "regular", twist drill for wood or metal will be fine.
The poly resin will not be a problem.

Use sharp bits designed for metal. Since polymers and resins will soften with heat and cause distorted holes, start with a very small drill bit, drill carefully and remove bit periodically to keep the plastic cool. It will distort without notice; very hard pushing like you would do were you penetrating metal is likely to lead to distortion. If you can practice with scrap material, do so.
